An orphanage my nephew has set up in Ghana
A phenomenal organization set up by Irish ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Kate Coleman. With the intention of totally eradicating all preventable blindness in the developing world, right to sight differ from other similar organizations in that instead of just flying a surgeon in (for a fee) to do so many operations – Right to Sight are training local surgeons in situ (free of charge) to operate themselves. In other words ‘give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for the rest of his life.’
I have dedicated the last page of my current book NO RESERVATIONS to this wonderful cause, and will be lobbying for all authors around the world to do the same….any help you can give will ensure that what we readers take for granted, will become a life changing and enduring gift of sight for those yet to receive it.
A truly fantastic dog walking and minding service run by Rhona McGlynn – a word of caution, though, your beloved pooch may fall in love with Rhona, as mine did! But that’s another story….
